Kara Strachan

Kara Strachan is a Southport born artist whose creative journey began in floristry, running a successful flower shop in North London. This early immersion in natural beauty sparked a lifelong fascination with form, colour and seasonal elements that continue to shape her evocative landscapes and floral paintings.

Now based in Staffordshire, Kara draws inspiration from ancient woodlands, English gardens, and the dramatic UK coastlines. Her work blends realism with expressive abstraction, using layered underpainting, dry brushing, and fluid mediums to create textured, atmospheric compositions that capture both place and emotion.

With over 20 years of studio practice, Kara specialises in acrylics and mixed media. Her background in anamorphic street art informs her strong sense of scale and spatial impact, whether painting intimate woodland scenes or sweeping seascapes.

Beyond her studio Kara is a passionate educator, hosting workshops and retreats across the UKfrom her Staffordshire gallery to the Lake District and Northumbrian beaches. Her decade-long career in commercial street art includes large-scale commissions for global brands, showcasing her ability to merge fine art with immersive public installations.
